Special Called Meeting - 1/5/2024

There is a special called meeting tomorrow, January 5, 2024 at 5:30 pm at City Hall. The meeting can be viewed on our Facebook and YouTube pages. As of this posting, there is no information packet. If that changes, I’ll be sure to update this page.

Updates since this original post are in blue below.

AGENDA

  1. Consideration of funding for the swearing in ceremony for newly elected officials February 3, 2024, at the Georgia International Convention Center.

  2. Second reading of Ordinance 2023–06 to amend the Charter to separate the Municipal Court from the Police Department.

Our city attorney advised the following via e-mail to the city manager at 7:04 pm on 1/4/24:

“Item number 2, “Second reading of Ordinance 2023–06 to amend the Charter to separate the Municipal Court from the Police Department” cannot be considered at the special called meeting tomorrow. I know you aren’t the one that set the agenda, but I wanted to bring this to your attention. As we discussed during the last agenda review meeting, the City Council lost quorum during the second of the amendment read on November 20th, so the process must be restarted.

The charter amendment must be adopted at two consecutive meetings and advertised once a week for 3 weeks in the 60 days prior to adoption. We have contacted the legal organs and intend to have the charter amendment adopted at the two meetings in February.”

  3. Consideration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration and participation.

  4. Consideration to approve One Talent-501c3 to disburse the Jack P. Longino Scholarship Fund in the amount of $8,000.00 for deserving students and subsequent future applicants.

  5. Consideration of the College Park organizational orientation.

  6. Consideration of adjusting City Council discretionary accounts.

Click to see the current balances through the first half of the fiscal year on our discretionary accounts and travel accounts.

  7. Consideration to approve and establishing the Six West Development Committee.

  8. Consideration of City Council Legislative Assistant reorganization.

  9. Discussion of College Park Police presence at council meetings.

  10. Consideration of funding for The Main Street Academy (TMSA) carline roadway stripping at Lakeshore Drive in the amount of $19,000.00.
